aunt margie

My dear, sweet Aunt Margie has passed away. She was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago and fought with unbelievable strength. You could always count on a sweet card in the mail from Aunt Margie. Throughout my life, she never missed a birthday, Christmas, or Valentine's Day. And Boy oh boy could she cook. Her homemade jams & jellies were famous in our family. Not to mention her chocolate gravy...mmm. My Nana so enjoyed traveling, chatting, and cooking with her sister. They always had a wonderful time together. Aunt Margie's kind, selfless, and compassionate spirit will carry on, but she will be greatly missed.

sitting and hoping and wishing and waiting...

When I was at home last week, Mom & I watched one of my favorite movies..."My Best Friend's Wedding." I just love the opening of the movie where the bridesmaids perform a little song and dance number.
I thought about the lyrics to that song tonight. I was lost in thought, as I often am, and caught myself thinking a few "if onlys." You know..."If only I had..." "If only I were..." "If only it were May..." I realized I was sitting, hoping, wishing, and waiting...for what exactly? For anything, except for what I have at the moment. That my friends, was a sad realization.
Then the gospel song, "Count Your Blessings" came to mind. I have so much to be thankful for. Too many things to mention. So why do I wish for more?
Maybe it is human nature...an inherit drive for success that pushes us to never settle for less than the best. But what if this moment really is the best that our life can get? That, I know, is all in the Lord's hands...But I do have faith that life has wonderful things in store for me...if I can only be patient enough to WAIT and let them happen when they are supposed to happen.

Procrastinator

Thats right. I am a procrastinator. VERB: pro·cras·ti·nat·ed , pro·cras·ti·nat·ing , pro·cras·ti·nates VERB: intr.
To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness. Wow. That's a little harsh...
But, I have had plenty of time this week to do school work. Have I? Nope, not one bit. Instead of doing school work, I have chosen to do a number of other unequally productive things. For example, on Sunday, I watched 4 movies. On Monday I went to Target. On Tuesday I watch more movies. Basically there has been a whole lotta couchin' and nota lotta workin'..But that's what Spring Break is for, right?? I NEEDED A BREAK!! I'm sure if I explain that to my professors, they will completely understand. yea. right. So maaaybe I can find time in my busy schedule of lounging to complete the tasks that are due. On the bright side, there are only 6 weeks until graduation. Hallelujah.

the glory days

Maybe it's because this is the least busy I've been in a long time, but I got to thinking about how my life has changed over the past year. One difference that comes to mind: I am not on pom anymore. For four awesome years I got to live my childhood dream on the Razorback football field and basketball court. Boy was it fun! Not only did I get to dance and perform, I made lifelong friends and relationships. I miss dancing, performing, and most of all seeing these girls everyday...

They have moved on to conquer the business world while I have stayed to coach future Razorback Pommies.

It seems like longer than a year since I donned the cardinal & white uniforms and waved matching poms. Even though I may not wear the unis, I can still dance with the girls every now and then. :) So essentially, I'm still living my dream...

GO HOGS!

Fun at Nana & Poppy's

While looking at pictures from my Mom's camera, I found quite a few funny memories from Christmas 2007.
First we have have Dad...catching a few "zzz's" after a big lunch...

Hmmm....Darby and I thought. What could we do for fun?

I know...Mom's camera!

After making sure Dad was really asleep, Darby decided to take advantage of the situation...

Not ever being one that likes to be left out...I joined in on the fun...

(Notice that Dad hasn't moved yet...)
Oh wait...it gets better.

Shame on you Darby...

Can't a man take a nap in peace??...the answer to that is well, no. :)

Fast forward to Christmas 2008...

See a pattern??
Big meals+big naps= family fun!

Think twice before catching any zzz's around me and Darby...muuahahahaha!

Meet the Palmers

Meet my amazing family...

First, there's my Dad...

George, my Dad is a hard-working, Christian man, who offers me sound advice in this unreliable world.

Next, there's my beautiful Mother...

My Mom, Jerris, is my best friend. We share many common interests such as art, traveling, dance, and bargain shopping :) The older I get, the more we have in common and the closer we grow as friends.

And then there'e my little brother, Darby...

Darby is my not-so-little brother. He has the sweetest heart and is growing into a quite a remarkable young man.

I am blessed to have such a great family.

Reece Baker Bailey

I've blogged about him, but never formally introduced my wonderful boyfriend, Reece.

We met our sophomore year at the University of Arkansas. He was in charge of the real, razorback mascot and me...well I rode on the trailer, on top of the mascot. I know, confusing and a little strange. But that's how it's done in Arkansas. Anyways...back to the story. Well see Reece is quite an attractive man. I flirtatiously shook my poms and made eye contact with "Tusk Boy"-as all the pom girls called him-for nearly two years. Rumor has it, he was "eyeing" me as well. As fate would have it, we formally met January of our Junior year. After a "Rock Star" function, dinner & a movie, and a snow storm, we were a couple. And...we have been together every since. What a guy that Reece Bailey is. I am one lucky woman. I love you, Reece.
